Nous Alpha

Nous Alpha is the ambient duo of Christopher Bono and Gareth Jones. Their catalog — Without Falsehood (2018) and A Walk in the Woods (2021) — develops a practice in which environmental listening and emotional restraint are the primary compositional materials. Long-form structures, minimal harmonic movement, and the space between sounds as active content.

Nous Alpha's work also provides the sonic foundation of the Warmheartedness installation: a 26-piece quadrophonic surround work that premiered at a Mind & Life Institute dialogue event in 2022, placing Nous Alpha recordings alongside Dalai Lama archive material in a surround listening environment.
