Christopher Bono
Artist Projectest. 2010
Solo composer hub. Orchestral, choral, classical, and roots-rock work outside the collaborative ensembles.
About
The solo composer hub for Christopher Bono — separate from his work with Ghost Against Ghost (post-rock), Tsyphur Zalan (ambient drone), NOUS and Nous Alpha (improvisational ensembles), and Gabbarein (Nordic folk).
This hub gathers the four releases under Bono's own name: the epic orchestral BARDO (2014, recorded at Dvořák Hall in Prague with members of the Czech Philharmonic and Prague Philharmonic), Invocations (fall 2012, his first classical album), the Unity & The Unexcelled Mantra EP (2013, performed by the New York Virtuoso Singers), and Ten Senators and The Rebel Son (his first public release, written at age 23 in a roots/rock idiom). See his full biography on the Christopher Bono artist page.

Press
“Christopher Bono's soaring, dense and rich musical score encapsulates all of the joy and pain of this journey in one of the most ambitious and challenging modern classical pieces I have heard in some time.”
Restless & Real · 2014-12on BARDO
“If you didn't read the liner notes or have any frame of reference for Bono's inspiration, it could totally sound like the soundtrack for an amazing RPG or fantasy film. Played straight through it is like a saga told in sound.”
Second Inversion · 2014-07-21on BARDO
“Bardo is a huge soundtrack of sadness and Tibetan mysticism, and sometimes dramatic.”
Democrat & Chronicle · 2014-07-21on BARDO
“'Fish, Father, Phoenix' employs taped fragments… and nature recordings over an ensemble of winds, strings, and percussion, mixed in a montage that raises questions about the meaning of life.”
AllMusicon Invocations
“Christopher Bono's spectacularly haunting Unity & The Unexcelled Mantra EP (which even as an EP bests out many full length choral recordings in the last five years)…”
Alto Riot · Runner-up: Best of 2013 · 2013on Unity & The Unexcelled Mantra
“'Masterpiece' is a big, important word. But sometimes you just have to say it.”
