Gabbarein was recorded in the Arctic Circle, Norway — the landscape is not backdrop but material. The space between Hafstad's voice and the surrounding silence is the composition's primary interval. Working at the intersection of Nordic folk and open-air sound design, the duo pursue a transparency of production: nothing that the place itself wouldn't offer. The album is available in 96kHz hi-resolution audio, mastered by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound, New York. The hi-res format is not an afterthought — Gabbarein is music designed to be heard at the resolution of its making.
